This beautiful, hand finished cast iron coaster is made by Iwachu of Japan. Iwachu are known for their fine craftsmanship and long tradition. The coaster has a dragonfly relief and is hand painted in black with gold highlights. The design suggests a dragonfly hovering over the ripples of a pond.
In Japan the dragonfly is a symbol of courage, strength and happiness, and often appears in Japanese art and literature. In ancient times this symbol was adopted by the samurai class.
